A number of people complain about the hard water stains in the toilets, but it can be a lot easier to get rid of than they think...and very inexpensive!

Buy a gallon of white vinegar. Keep this under your bathroom sink, or in a bathroom closet. Once a week, pour about a half a cup of the vinegar in the back of your commode. Tada! Done! Stains vanish!

Make your own Halloween Costume

With Halloween just around the corner, I decided to write an article about saving money on Halloween costumes.

I just recently attended our annual Halloween party. I didn't want to spend money on a costume, or even costume accessories. If I could get away with it, I wanted to have a costume that was made completely out of things found around the house.

Well, I got lucky, and found an old dress in one of the rental properties. My imagination started flowing from there. That is, along with my internet search engine. I decided to go as a Headless Bride. Here is the article with directions on How to Make a Headless Woman Costume!

The only thing that I spent money on was the materials to make the homemade fake blood. But, it was made of items that are found in most households including: clear corn syrup, dish liquid, corn starch, red and blue food coloring.

Install a Wall Heater

For money savings on her utility bills, a company came out to check out my mom's home to see if it was energy efficient. They determined that installing a wall heater would be more efficient than the current type of heat that she had in her living room.

We decided to install a couple of these in the upstairs of one of our apartments, which has a forced gas furnace and no duct work in the upstairs. They work great.

Follow this LINK for directions on how to install a wall heater. And good luck with saving on your utilities bills this winter!

Some other things that you can do to earn some extra money on the internet include: paid to click programs, paid to read email, surveys, and many more.

I have compiled all of this information in a little bit of a web site which I call Learn to Earn for Free. Check It Out!

Good luck to you in earning a little extra cash on the internet.

Save Money on Car Maintenance

Today's new idea to help you live an inexpensive way of life, is to save money on car maintenance.

One can easily perform oil changes at home. It is easy to find out what type of oil and filter to use. You can look under the hood of your car or truck, and it will tell you the weight of the oil. In most stores, there is a digitalized kiosk that will allow you to look up what type of filter.

Other things that can be easily be done are light bulb changes. Here is an article to describe how easy it is on one particular vehicle.

Ideas from My Friends

I want to thank all of my friends for helping me come up with some new ideas this week. Here are some money saving or frugal ideas, that we came up with.

When you finish the end of a jar of jelly, peanut butter, etc., instead of throwing the jar away right away, save it. The next time you go for a snack, take a slice of bread and dip it in the jar to get that last little bit out instead of tossing it!

Again, at the end of a bag of pretzels. Don't toss that extra salt with the pretzel bag. Put it in a little container, maybe even a grinder, and save it for your popcorn or other snacks.

What about sunscreen? It will probably be expired if you save it from year to year. How about using the rest of the tube for shaving instead of tossing it? It will probably even help to soften your skin!

Another good idea....When you are getting the temperature set in your shower and the water is running before you get in, catch that water in a bucket. Use the water for your outdoor plants. This will especially be helpful in the summer.

Hope you have enjoyed these household tips from me and my friends!
